DURANT, Okla. -- A Durant woman is in prison after allegedly stealing close to $3,000 dollars from Wal-Mart. Durant police say Deborah Ward, 41, was an employee at the store and took the money in order to pay for her prescription medications.

She first took money in May of this year and then again earlier this month. That was when store officials approached the woman, who confessed to taking the money.

Ward is currently in the Bryan County Jail on embezzlement charges.

What Deborah did was wrong and I do feel bad about what she did. All she had to do was any of us at the store and we would of helped her any way we could. Mike Snell is a good hearted person and he would do any thing to help. All she had to do is ask. We at Wal-Mart work very hard and what she did hurts all of us and our bonus. My thougts are with Deborah and her family. God Bless

    P. U. Nethgil (P.U.? what does that stand 4?) I wasn't meaning to condone stealing although it is a known fact that Wal MArt requires employees to clock out , then attend meetings / training on their own time (how crappy is that?) But that isn't steeling is it? As far as that dollar figure , in 2001 Mr. Snell reported Durant Wal MArt had 18 - 20 million in sales at the old store that wasn't even a super center. Think it's went down know-it-all? I've known Mike since he was stocking shelves at the old store over 20 years ago. Even he will tell you sometimes people make mistakes and should pay for them. Unless they are the store manger's SON. OOP'S. We shouldn't talk about that should we? Because we want mercy shown to a family member who's been in trouble with the law (multiple times). As far as the stupid jokes at the end of my coments , that was just trying to yank some ones chain. I didn't think anyone was stupid enough to get hooked by them. You prooved me wrong. Have good Day :)

Now days more people are looking for the easy way to just get by. Everyone needs to work for what they need. If they do not have enough money then maybe they should of worked harder before they got into the jam and then they would not of been in that position to begin with. She deserves to be in jail. The easy way out is usually not the best or the right way.

She should have just filed bankruptcy. Better than going to jail

Leroy are you really in support of her breaking the law to pay for prescription medications. We all know how expensive drugs are but crime is not an acceptable way to come up with the funds.
