GRAYSON COUNTY, Tex. -- There is a big change of plays for cable subscribers in Grayson County. Cable One General Manager Claude Edwards told sports director David Reed that the cable company plans on showing the Cowboys-Packers game on Thursday night.

The game is scheduled to be aired on the NFL Network. Cable One was issued a letter from the NFL on Monday, stating that the cable company could not air the game on KDFI in Grayson County. Now Cable One says that the they are not picking up NFL Network, but plan on airing the game on KDFI, cable channel 2 in Sherman and Denison.

"As of now, we are planning on showing the game," Edwards said. "But it is a very fluid situation."

Most Oklahoma viewers can only see the game on NFL Network. KDFI also has broadcast rights in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Only the home television markets of the teams involved (Dallas and Green Bay) is the game being shown on cable.

Grayson County is considered its own television market (Sherman/Ada), whereas Collin and Cooke counties are included in the 'home' DFW television market.

NFL Network is available only on DirecTV and DISH Network in our area. If you are a DirecTV (Channel 212) or Dish Network (Channel 154) customer, you will be able to watch Thursday night's game.

As of Thursday morning, here's where to tune in to see the Cowboys/Packers game:

Cable One: Channel 2
DirecTV: Channel 212
Dish Network: Channel 154

The Cowboys-Packers game begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday night. Both teams are 10-1 on the season.

Richie, I didn't have to pay anything, no cable, no dish to watch the Cowboys beat the Packers

That was one of the worst telecasts I have ever seen. NFL Network could have rolled out something better than Bryant "Rick Romo" Stumble.

Yes, the Pack got whipped last night, but as Chris Berman says, "That's why they play the games..." As PU said, We got to see the game on Channel 2, without paying extra, and without a dish bolted to our house. And that was the whole point of the story aired by KXII toe begin with. Game On, and Happy Holidays :)

Once again, Richie backed the wrong horse in the race. But it's all good- I got to see the game last nite on Channel 2 (cable, that is), which is what this whole hullabaloo was all about. And, the results were as I wanted- Dallas made fondue out of da Cheeseheads.

Jerry J, you're still ignoring fixed overhead. No cable or dish company can just let people choose, a la carte, the handful of channels they want to watch, and maintain the revenue stream necessary to pay for capital outlay and overhead/maintenance. You're also ignoring the franchise agreements with various cities that set out requirements for "basic" cable, and in some cases, other tiers of cable service. If you think the cable companies are ripping people off and making sooooo much money, why don't you buy some of their stock and get in on the action?
