SHERMAN, Tex. -- There's a new face on the Sherman Police force. The city council met 'Dude,' the new K-9 officer at a meet-and-greet Monday afternoon.

The two-and-a-half year old German shepherd is from the Czech Republic but officially joined the force last week. He is living with his human partner, Officer Michael Young, and will be used mostly for drug searches.

Young says dude has already made his first find and is now the second K-9 on the force.

"We can use them more than on just one shift, we'll have two shifts covered with a dog that way if something happens in the daytime we have one, if something happens at night there's one available," Sherman police officer Michael Young says.

Officer Young says Dude is very friendly and responds well to others.
