Gov. Henry names Peterson’s successor

PONTOTOC COUNTY, Okla. -- Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry announced who will succeed former Pontotoc County District Attorney Bill Peterson.

Governor Henry announced on Monday that Chris Ross will be the new district attorney for Oklahoma’s 22nd District. The 50-year old Ross has been with the Pontotoc County District Attorney’s office since 1983 and currently serves as the assistant district attorney.

Bill Peterson announced his retirement early last month. His resignation is effective January 1, 2008.

Ross is a 1979 graduate of the University of Oklahoma. He also received his law degree from the OU College of Law in 1982.
