MARSHALL COUNTY, Okla. -- Two people are facing animal cruelty charges after dead dogs were found in their yard.

Marshall County authorities found two dogs that were dead and five malnourished dogs a week ago at the residence of Jennifer Lopez, 24, and William Steven Johnson, 23.

Neighbors told authorities about what was going on at the residence. Once deputies arrived, they found no signs of food or water for the animals.

Lopez was arrested in Tishomingo. Johnson turned himself in, and both were booked into the Marshall County Jail but have since posted bond.

Lopez and Johnson have their preliminary hearing set for December 21st.

i dont understand why there are so many negative comments on this site. these two parents both take good care of there children. the subject is about dogs not there children. i use to work with jennifers mom and i also went to church with jen years ago. these are good people u are talking about. they have a nice home they provide food and clothing for there children and they both spend time with there children. thats more than i can say fo many of the others in marshall county. i thank we should say focused on all the children in marshall county who arent taking care of and there are many. the dogs is the topic and they take good pride in there pets as well as there family. now let it rest.

This is from a person who knows this couple very well i as a matter of fact work wit her n knw that she is the most caring person u will ever meet. n 4 those that work wit her n dont like her is only becus she tells u how it is n makes u work. as 4 there children the are very well taken care of n dont need nor want for nothing. 4 a couple of there age they have what most other people in there mid 20's dont n this is why so many people n madill say what they say about them. as for u that dont know not all thats n the paper is true they failed to mention that this couple has a 3yr old male pit bull in excellent condition that was there when the other dogs were taken but nobody talks bout him becus he goes to show that these dogs were taken care of and not harmed. and for those who live in oaklnd should know that there was 3 other pitbuls within that week that died of antifreeze poisoning within a 2 block radius. so just becus these dogs died doesnt mean that they did it.

My what a sharp tongued attorney you are. I love how you so tastfully played this down as an accident. Come on no matter how you package poop it's still poop. Maybe real soon you'll be on the otherside and have one of your kind trying to make a wrong seem right. When you do, remember this.

Facts need to be out in the public. The dogs had food and water everyday. The large dog that died, Dottie, had just had her second litter of puppies. The first time she had puppies, she exhibited the same weight loss as with this litter. The owners thought that she was just like that, and that she would regian the weight and be healthier looking once again. She was also feeding her 5 puppies. There was a dead puppy, too. The puppy fed off Dottie. They are not responsible for either death. Sometimes, people are doing what they are supposed to be doing and animals die. Ask a vet, and ask animal owners who breed dogs. Sometimes Dogs die because of the complicatons with birthing. If they would have known what they know now, I am sure they would have maybe thought about getting Dottie to stop feeding the puppies and just see what her condition was. Based on their experience, they thought she was OK. She had food set out for her everyday. Life can be tragic, don't be too quick to judge.
