SHERMAN, Tex. -- Grayson County authorities seized thousands of dollars worth of drugs in a bust late last week.

Investigators say a tip and surveillance led them to 27-year-old Robert E. Godwin. Godwin stands now accused of selling marijuana out of his home on Calais Street in Sherman. Investigators say Godwin appeared to be weighing and packaging the drug for distribution when they arrived.

Around twenty-five pounds of marijuana and $12,000 were seized in Friday’s bust. Deputies say the money was in a gun safe at the home.

They also say Godwin was carrying an additional $2,000 on him. Sheriff Keith Gary says Godwin and his two daughters live with his parents. Both children are now in the care of child protective services.

"The thing I guess that bothers me the most is that we have two small children involved with drug activities going on. And also, it's hard to understand how parents, or grandparents in this case, could allow such a thing to go on,” Grayson County Sheriff Keith Gary said

The street value of the marijuana was estimated to be around $25,000. Godwin was released on bond. If convicted, he faces up to fifteen years in prison.

First I would like to appologize to my kids and family, and also the people who stay on Calais st. Most people who stay on this street have known me since me and my family first moved here in 1992. I have no excuse for what i was doing, but I just hope most people understand I wanted to do for my children. I will take full credit for what happened, and to my children "Jalen" and "Taneia", Im sorry, and one day I will make this better.

But, as I found out via this site's competitor, the pot was being sold near a school. I hope he gets the max sentence, and Sean, Kxii's resident pothead, goes away.

My god!!!do you like the idea of not getting social security amd no health care??what about all the elderly that go without all the basic needs of a human, such as health care.and since the lastest polls suggest that health care is the biggest concern you should pay attention.where will the money come from for this, social securuty?????sh** that has been gone for progressive and make the states a better place for people.i love the states and i always will.but the fact remains you guys there have big problems with funding programs.i just find it hard to believe that you have nothing btter to do than intrude on peoples personal choices.what you do with your life is your decison.why is it such a problem if somenody wants to smoke cannabis.who does that hurt really?the feds or local police have no right to intrude on a persons personal choice and that is an invasion of a basic human right.and i will not put the bong down because i make a choice not take ya pipe and smoke that! edited by Staff

Sean- sorry, but until federal laws are changed, possession of marijuana is illegal. As for "eeveryone in Holland having healthcare and most of us not having it", who do you listen to- Michael Moore? That fat pig would just as soon we were all taxed out the wazoo to pay for so-called "free health care". Free, heh heh such critter. Please feel free to live where you're at, and I hope you're happy. I have no desire to pay tons more taxes for socialized medicine. Now set the bong down for a while.......
