DURANT, OK -- Durant firefighters recognize a vigilant volunteer. Chief Steve Dow and the Durant city council honored Norman Campo at the council meeting Tuesday night.

Norman volunteers with Bryan County Emergency Management and makes it out to almost every major structure and grass fire in the county. He brings water and Gatorade and says it's a thrill to see the firefighters get re-charged after taking a couple minutes to replenish with the Gatorade.

Chief Dow presented him with a plaque and Norman says it was one of the few times he's actually been speechless. This Vietnam vet says he's honored and just wishes he started volunteering about 20 years earlier.
