WHITEWRIGHT, Tex. -- Communication just got easier for Whitewright Emergency Management Services. The department just bought a brand new digital radio system thanks to a $9,000 grant from Ash Grove Cement Company.
Previously, Whitewright EMS used old or borrowed equipment, gear that Mayor Bill Goodson says rarely worked.
Goodson says the gear was expensive, but in his opinion, it is worth every penny.
"It is very expensive, but when you put right type of equipment in here, it’s very cheap, because it saves a life." Mayor Goodson says.
Officials say the new system has in-car repeaters that boost the signals, allowing them to reach anyone in Grayson County on the new radios.
