OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The first of Oklahoma's two special antlerless deer seasons opens Friday for gun hunters in most of Oklahoma.

The antlerless season is closed in most of the Panhandle and parts of southeastern Oklahoma. A map showing the zones that are open is in the 2007-2008 Oklahoma Hunting Guide.

This is the sixth consecutive year for the special antlerless season as state wildlife officials hope for a larger harvest of does to control the growing deer population.

The antlerless season runs through Sunday with a second weekend of doe hunting scheduled for December 28th through 30th.

LOL, I hadn't thought of that Merry Melodies. You are right, he can't be (legally) hunted because Rudolph has them "horns."

Rudolph with his nose so bright...guides the sleigh at night. Rudolph is not cartoon and has antlers therefore Rudolph is not eligible to be hunted.

Are you saying that Rudolph is real? I believe in Santa but always thought Rudolph was a cartoon.

Great story just before Rudolph helps deliver toys with Santa.
