Woman gets married in 2nd surprise Christmas Eve wedding

WATERFORD, Wisconsin (AP) - Francis Southey planned his bride's original wedding as a Christmas Eve surprise while he was stationed in Sherman, Texas, in 1942.

She got another surprise on Christmas Eve -- on her 65th wedding anniversary. Staff at a senior living facility in Waterford, Wisconsin, arranged a surprise wedding ceremony for the couple. Three generations of family and friends gathered for the event.

Francis Southey says the first wedding almost didn't happen. He says she wanted a big wedding but he didn't have any money.

She says that she just thought she was coming to spend Christmas with him all those many years ago in Texas. She says when she got to Sherman, he had it all planned out.
