ANTLERS, Okla. -- A man police say was involved in a standoff in Antlers, Oklahoma, on Monday night will be arraigned in court on Thursday. Police have yet to release his name, but authorities say he is accused of holding authorities at bay at a home on Northeast 8th Street in Antlers.

No one was hurt in the standoff, and Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say the man eventually surrendered peacefully after less than an hour of negotiations.

There is no word on what charges he faces.

You know every time I read the words stand off it makes me mad. Come on folks! This man had a breakdown! He isn't a criminal like the Antlers Police Dept would like everyone to believe. He is a decent citizen of this crap town and has been for years. What he needed that day was a damned hospital! He had overdosed. That's something the good old boys at APD won't say though. They knew it and they withheld medical attention from him. This place and the people that run it are sad and ignorant. Oddly enough what they refer to as a 3 hour standoff was something he was only conscience for about ten minutes of! But you know they had to get their big arrest in for the year and saw an opportunity to settle a few scores. I wonder why they're not talking about the rights he had violated? KXII certainly isn't interested in it either. It shows me that apparently it IS a crime to be mentally ill. And of course innocent until proven guilty is a joke here. I'm appalled to admit I live here.
