SHERMAN, Tex. -- A woman who police say was assaulted by her husband over the weekend has died. Police say Patricia Field, 26, was found dead in her Sherman apartment Wednesday afternoon. Police do not know the actual cause of her death.

Sgt. Bruce Dawsey of the Sherman Police Department says right now they cannot connect Field's death to the December 22nd assault. He says Field was treated and released from the hospital following that incident.

"The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of death. The results from the autopsy will be back in 4 to 6 weeks, and we'll have a more definitive answer at that time." Sgt. Dawsey said.

Field's husband, Jimmy Field, Jr., is still in jail on assault charges. He was notified about his wife's death last night.

Chrissy is in a better place then us. God has her in his arms Now and For-ever! The hosiptal should not have released her so fast after the injuries. When the results come back then that will determine the real facts about it all. God Bless The Family that is left behind.

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IT THAT THERE ARE LESS THAN 200 OFFICERS IN THIS ENTIRE COUNTY, AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THEY DO NOT PATROL INSIDE OF INDIVIDUAL APARTMENTS. SO OFTEN TIMES WHAT GOES ON INSIDE OF PEOPLES PERSONNEL LIVES OFTEN TIMES GOES UNDETECTED. COPS ARE NOT MIND READERS.
