SHERMAN, Tex. -- The Sherman Police Department is still looking for officers to fill up its force and is trying some unique ways to get the message out to the public. Daniel Gotera has the story.
The Sherman Police Department is now advertising in local newspapers and radio stations along with other publications across the state in an effort to bring people to the area.
The department has four open positions. Officials say they are looking for qualified individuals and experience is not required. They say the training necessary to become the officer they are looking for will come after recruits pass the initial tests.
Lt. Bob Fair says the department has to meet the demands of a growing community, and to do that they need more officers. Fair says officers are hard to come by, especially in this part of the country.
Officials with the Sherman Police Department say looking for new officers is a never-ending process. They hope getting the word out will help them recruit people who wouldn't normally consider working in Sherman.
If you are interested in applying for a position, the deadline is January 15th. For more information, click here.
