LOVE COUNTY, Okla. -- Love County voters decided Tuesday to allow places like restaurants and casinos to sell alcohol by the drink.

58% voted in favor of liquor by the drink, 42% voted against the measure, according to the Election Board.

More than 2,700 voters cast ballots in Love County. Absentee ballots were cast on Monday and Friday.

‘Liquor by the drink’ has been on the ballot four times in previous elections in past years and each time has failed.

Your right Jane. How could I have been so blind. Its the excitement I hate. Deep down I'm just bitter about the excitement, and in quiet little Marietta no less. Agad! I guess I'll just stay home. Thanks for the advise........Wait a minute. On second thought, maybe your just an idiot. Yea, what I said previously stands. Thanks for your two cents though.

Regardless of the outcome, it's great that everyone got out and exercised their right as an American citizen to make a change to something that they feel needs a change. The majority has spoken and it's time to honor our system of approving changes in law and move forward to making Love County the best that it can be. Everyone has a free will, so we cannot control what people do with Liquor by the Bottle or Liquor by the Drink. Everyone needs to understand that anything in excess is bad, so please use moderation with all things in your life. Only responsible adults are allowed to drink, so please be responsible and never drink and drive. Thank You!

Hey Think about it from Colbert, Bryan County has had liquor by the drink for a while now, try going to Choctaw and even ordering so much as a beer, not happening. Besides you have enough trouble in your little corner of the world with the politics than to go get on a soap box about Love County.

Lets not forget good ole fashioned politics, guys. Think about it. If you can now drink in casinos, who really profits? Nobody tosses money right into your pocket better than a gambler who has had 'a few too many.' The casinos will profit huge on this! With the truck loads of money they already have, makes you wonder how much they 'leaned' on the county commissioners and voters to get the vote passed. Sober gamblers can walk away from the slots and tables just a little bit better than someone who has impared judgement. Alcohol will be a big asset for the gaming communities.

To Steve In Gainesville, How often do you travel North? Marietta has 2 liquor stores in Town and one bar outside of the city limits. Not including all the bars in other towns in Love County. You can get drunk at Winstar and even at Pizza Hut if you want. Liquor by the drink will change nothing!

Liquor by the drink was not about drunk drivers, it was about the future of our county. Those so called drunk drivers that kill people did not get drunk sitting in a restaurant. If the people are so concerned about drunk drivers then start using some of that energy you are using to prevent my children and grandchildren from having a future at home and start working on the laws related to drunk driving. The fines and punishments should be more severe. Then you can start on the ones that have the cell phone stuck in their ear. I read so many letters that had statistics, but I never read how or where they got their information. You go Love County, You GO!
