MADILL, Okla. -- About 650 acres burned in a fire near Madill Thursday afternoon.
Fire officials say it started around 4:30 p.m. in a pasture at Highway 377 South and Highway 32.
Windy, dry conditions fueled that fire as four fire departments worked to put out the flames.
Highway377 was shut down for about half an hour due to heavy smoke, but has been reopened.
Firefighters say the fire started when burning trash got out of control.
They say the people who were burning will be held responsible for the damages.
