SHERMAN, Tex. -- Two pit bulls and their puppies were stolen from a Sherman man’s home.

According to the Sherman police report, the man's pit bulls were stolen from his fenced- in backyard Saturday at his residence at the 200 block of Cherry Street in Sherman.

A male, a female and four one-week old puppies were stolen. Sherman Police do not have any suspects at this time.

Sherman Police Sgt.Bruce Dawsey says although it's not uncommon for dogs to be stolen, pit bulls are usually the ones reported.

"We typically don't see other types stolen on a regular basis," Dawsey said

If you have any information, call the Sherman Police Department.

How could someone steal someones pet? And, this DOES obviously proove that not all pits are mean, otherwise, the theif would be in the hospital! I guess Little Rascals prooved that anyways... I mean, Pettie never bit Buckwheat!! :) Dogs are like children, they only know what they've been taught. Some just catch on better than others, Pits just happen to be so smart that if not worked with properly they can get out of control, much like a child (especially one with A.D.D.). I personally asked God for a friend and he gave me a Pit Bull, even as scared of the breed as I was, she is the best thing that ever happend to me and I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world. PS. Not everyone needs a pit bull, but every pit bull needs someone!!! But, pits have nothing to do with this, YOU DONT STEAL SOMEONES PET!

If Pits are so mean - wouldn't the headline have been something like, "Person(s)found dead after trying to steal Pit Bulls"? I cannot imagine being so insensitive as to steal a families pet(s). I hope the thieves are caught.

If they are such "horrible dogs" then why didn't they maul the person that stole them?????? Some people are ignorant. Don't judge one particular breed, just like you don't judge one particular race. There are exceptions to every rule.

How stupid can people be? Pit bulls are not mean unless you make them mean, as well as any other dog. It is comments like these and stereotypes that give great and loyal dogs bad reps. I have had puppies stolen from me(NOT PITS) and it is a total violation of your property. I just want to say good luck to the owners. I had a heck of a time recovering my loss(6 rotties). I can only suggest that you contact the vets in the surrounding area. If the person who stole them is going to sell them, then chances are new owners will be having them vaccinated and such. BY THE WAY, in response to the comment that pit bulls are horrible and should be banned, there are no horrible dogs, only horrible owners. Get a life!!

Do to others that are not fully aware pit bulls are well trained animals. For outcasters like yourself they have benn trained to rescue lives of others. In Nebraska there is a female pit who is trained to rescue people out of merky waters do to floods. In Oklahoma a male pit rescued his elderly owner by dragging her out of a house fire. Everyone one wants to judge but its all in the way they are trained. Ankle bitters (little Dogs) can do as much damage as a bigger sized dog.
