Grass fires keep crews busy across southern Oklahoma

Grass fire in Marshall Co.

MARSHALL COUNTY, OK -- Firefighters worked at a feverish pace Tuesday to contain a large grass fire in Marshall County.

The fire started around 3 o’clock Tuesday afternoon. Several fire departments including Madill were called out to the scene approximately one mile off Highway 70 and Hawkins Road.

Investigators are still looking into how the fire started. Most of that fire has been contained as of 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Grass fire in Pottawatomie Co.

POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY, OK -- A large grass fire consumed parts of Wellston near Highway 66 on Tuesday afternoon and burned several large, round bales of hay and trees.

No injuries were reported. However, the fire did come near some homes in the area before firefighters were able to put out those flames.
