ANNA, Tex. -- Haz-Mat crews cleared the scene around four o’clock Thursday afternoon after cleaning up an acid leak at an Anna truck stop .

A truck driver pulled over this morning for coffee but smelled acid and saw a leak coming from the trailer. There were 80 barrels of acid inside and one of those barrels had collapsed.

Crews worked quickly to contain the area but no evacuations were necessary.

Around 8:15 this morning, the driver of a Trail Liner semi stopped to get coffee. When he came out, he smelled an acid odor and saw a small leak and called 911.

Crews from Collin County, Anna and Plano were called to the scene and secured the area.

A private Haz-Mat removal team came out and found the leaking barrel. The crew decontaminated the trailer and sent the driver back on his way.

The driver was en route to Houston from Tulsa.

at least the truck driver knew what he was doing as this could have turned into a really bad incident. he could have been in a larger city and could have not been able to stop for a cup of coffee and leaked acid up and down the highway. at least he had enough training to know the smell of a dangerous situation. at least he wasn't looking to do harm to anyone. thank him for a job well done.
