CARTER COUNTY, Okla. -- Investigators in Carter County are offering a reward for information related to the death of a woman in December.

The body of 26-year-old Brandi Baird was found near Healdton in December. Roy Gene Bassett was arrested days later on charges he dumped Baird’s body near an oil lease. Bassett is currently free on a $50,000 bond.

If you have any information call Ardmore Crime Stoppers at 580-504-4529. Investigators are offering a $1,000 reward.

Authorities arrested Roy Gene Bassett two days after the body of Brandi Baird was discovered in Healdton.

So far investigators say that 26-year-old Brandi Baird died at Bassett’s residence in Healdton.

Even though investigators have linked Bassett to Baird’s death, no evidence has been found to charge Bassett with more than a felony charge of dumping Baird’s body.

District Attorney Craig Ladd says that’s the reason why his bond was set at $50,000.

Ladd also said that full results from autopsy are not due for several weeks.

Bassett’s next court appearance is set for January 22.

When you're caught with a dead body, you're the FIRST suspect. And unless you start talking about where you found the body and who was there, you're "obstructiung justice", and in the very least an "accompise". Either charge merits more than $50,000 bond. There has been less circumstantial evidence in murder cases before that have resulted in convictions wihtout even a body. What kind of frontier justice is going on down here? This guy related to a famous sheriff or something? That woman didn't drive all the way to Healdton from Cordell for nothing. I'll bet his house wasn't even searched for drugs.

Homicide = murder, the willful taking of a life. There is no evidence to support homicide and no cause of death yet. So.... Unexplained death? Yes. Mysterious death? Yes. Perhaps even unnatural. Accidental is still obviously a possibility. Just because someone dies at someone's house does not make it a homicide.

It doesn't matter what she did or who she did it with, no one deserves to die the way she did. She was human just like the rest of us and deserved to be treated that way. He dumped her body in a field, alive or not she didn't deserve that no one does. Maybe her life was not like it should have been but who are we to judge. A young mother was taken from her 2 small children. Instead of slandering people who can not be here to defend themselve, because someone decided to take them from this world way to early, lets try to find the person or person's responsible so that her family and friends can have closure.

The man is FREE after dumping a body. Amazing. Why couldn't the judge order bond available AFTER An AUTOPSY??? I bet you almost anything that this guy is gone. If the death wasn't suspicious, THEN WHY WAS HE GETTING RID OF THE BODY/EVIDENCE???!!!! WHY DIDN'T HE CALL POLICE WHEN HE REALIZED SHE WAS DEAD?!
