SHERMAN, Tex. -- After a beating in Sherman Wednesday night, four suspects are in custody Thursday.
Officers found the 43-year-old victim in the parking lot of the 'crossroads motel' in the 2400 block of Texoma Parkway. He had been severely beaten with a tire iron.
Police found the suspects at a nearby mobile home park. Three of them are under the age of 18.
"They beat the man with a tire iron, attempted to hit him with a fire extinguisher they ripped of the wall. None of it’s acceptable or appropriate. They will be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. They could have easily killed the individual," Sherman Police Sgt. Bruce Dawsey said.
Officers say they also found a lug wrench at the scene.
The fourth suspect is Phillip Michael Johnson, 19, who is also known as ‘Pookie’.
All four suspects were arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police say they know who the fifth suspect is and are getting a warrant for his arrest.
The report says the assault stemmed from an argument over money that the victim owed one of the suspects.
