SHERMAN, Tex. -- TAPS executive directory Freddy Lessly has resigned.

At a Texoma Area Paratransit System board meeting Friday afternoon, the board accepted Lessly's resignation. Chairman of the Board Brad Underwood says the out-going director cited health problems as the reason for his resignation.

Lessly served TAPS for 18 years, but due to his resignation, First Transit, a national transportation company, will take over temporarily. Their regional vice president, Frank Tobey, will be in charge for six month period.

Underwood says TAPS service will not change.

"As far as TAPS right now, we will continue on like we always have, continue to run shuttles, buses and serve the community and take care of the patrons because that's what's important," Underwood says.

TAPS has seen its fair share of financial problems, but Underwood says First Transit has helped to turn a number of other companies around. He hopes that will also be the case for TAPS.

Taps is a very political system. Former management people were ousted via a hostile takeover by the current regime. They invaded their privacy. Sneaky, clandestine meetings were taking place by only a few board members with an agenda!

Hey Jimmy, What PSA's do you refer to? Yes...Global Warming is real. And it's funny that you dis Scientology when your name is "Cruse". That's Irony isn't it? Oh.. are you a Lib or Conservative? This story about TAPS has nothing to do with your political views. Find the correct forum for a debate. MORK... Propaganda IS in Africa, right next to Zamunda ruled by King Joffe Joffer! Go Ron Paul!!!

Michelle, maybe you have a better idea on how the elderly & disabled can get help other than TAPS & TCOG? Not every one has children that can get them to all their appointments etc. AND, you don't have to be "young" to need TCOG. My husband was only 47 when he needed their help.

Wow Jimmy, I thought this thread was about TAPS. I wasn't aware we were going to discuss Politics, Religion, and the rumor that I've heard about the Teletubbies are gay! LOL. You must have found bugs in your cereal this morning dude. I thought Propaganda was a country in Africa?

Has nothing to do with TAPS...Why does 12 run the most dishonest PSA's on their secondary channels? The global warming hoax is bad enough, but are you not aware that Narconon is a division of the "Church" of Scientology? Be more careful, and please don't shove liberal propaganda down our throats. Thanks.

ohhh michelle michelle michelle........I only hope you or none of your family ever need the taps bus. I use to drive the Taps bus and it is very rewarding. There are people that can only visit their spouse or loved one that has been put in a nursing home or hospital or go for a dr. visit or Gro store because of this service. A waste of tax payers money!!! please....I will gladly pay taxes to keep this service. And TCOG oh my!!!you must be very young.

TAPS provides a wonderful service to not only but the elderly, but many children of working parents. After school, kids board the bus and are taken to after-school care or grandparents homes. This provides their parents a cost effective, safe and dependable ride source. Additionally, very support is given to TAPS by local tax dollars. Seeing the amount of waste that goes on in Washington on frivolous torts, useless legislation and party gridlock, I believe this program provides a great need for our communities.

Those "wasted" tax dollars transport our respected eldery citizens to and from doctors appointments, grocery stores, snap center and various other places. Could you kindly explain how that makes our tax dollars "wasted"? Furthermore, my mother is a frequent passenger in Sherman and has commented several times that she would be lost without Taps.

Michelle...How nice for you that you OBVIOUSLY have your own transportation and don't need to depend on public transportation to get to life saving procedures such as dialysis, perhaps if you did you would see the need for this service. Let's hope you never are put in the position of needing public transportation then you'll be appreciative of this much needed service!
