SHERMAN, Tex. -- The Sherman Fire Department discovered they were one generator short last week. Fire Chief Jeff Jones says sometime in the last few weeks, thieves stole a $700 generator.

Jones says the generator provides back-up power for their communication radios. He says they noticed the generator was missing during routine maintenance.

Jones says now the fire department is taking extra precautions.

"Like a homeowner, we're a victim of theft. It’s unfortunate, but we're taking steps, making sure our doors are locked; our tools and equipment are secured. It’s a very unfortunate event," Jones said.

Sherman Police say this incident is not related to the stolen generator reported last week.

WTF man? If your are really a former fireman you know things get missed from time to time. Every fireman is guilty of it. You learn from it, and move on. If you say you checked everything evertime, your lying. How would you know what there taking care of, you don't work there. BACK OFF!! REAL Fireman don't talk about other fireman.

who is in charge of doing the inventory of the fire dept. if the generator has been missing for 'weeks' when was the last time anyone saw it. doesn't seem like people are taking care of equipment. sure hope you keep up with your firemen better than you do your equipment. what would have happened if you had an emergency and needed the equipment.
