CARTER COUNTY, Okla. -- Carter County may be one step closer to having even more agricultural research in its own backyard.

Oklahoma State University is looking into buying land off State Highway 199 in Dickson near the Mary Niblack Road intersection. Officials are interested in building a $10 million research center just down the road from the Noble Foundation. It is not clear just yet how soon the facility could start going up.

The Noble Foundation has been showing for years what great strides can be made with a private initiative. I'm disappointed how much they have gone to government grants to expand and how the state of Oklahoma is spending our money in ways far beyond the normal scope of state government. Fix my roads, pay my teachers, and if you have more than enough of my money, give it back to me.
