GRAYSON COUNTY, Tex. -- Grayson County residents may soon see new construction on the State Highway 289 expansion. Judge Drue Bynum says the clearing contract for the land has been completed.

Now, a three week bidding process for contractors will take place.

Bynum expects crews to break ground on the expansion during the first part of March.

"Today is a historic day for Grayson County. Federal Highway Administration has given a letter of release to begin construction of State Highway 289." Grayson County Judge Drue Bynum said Monday.

The extension of 289 will begin at State Highway 56 and head north into Pottsboro, passing the west side of the airport.

Vern, That deal fell apart recently. They spent about 2 years getting everything together and just pulled up roots and left. I heard that it was nothing more than a scheme to bilk investers. It is a major embarrassment to the county judge and the commissioners so you will not be hearing much about it at all.

What happened to the deal with the big Russian airplane and the company that was to operate out of the Grayson County Airport?
