DENTON, Tex. -- Residents are still waiting for an explanation of a ground shaking occurrence in Denton Tuesday night.

Neighbors in the south part of the city begin calling 911 around 11 p.m., reporting their houses shaking, the windows rattling and the ground vibrating.

A Denton city spokesperson says it may have been a number of things that caused it, but they really have no idea.

"One of my first thoughts was that one of the numerous pipelines may have exploded, but we haven't had any reports, so we're still baffled." John Cabrales, with the City of Denton, said.

Thousands of pipelines run under ground in Denton, but they have no way of calling each company to check so they will just have to wait and see if another “shake-up” happens.

North Texas is in area where earthquakes are very likely to occur. I wonder why they haven't taken into consideration that maybe we had a small earthquake?
