ARDMORE, Okla. -- Most people in Ardmore aren't afraid to brag on their Historic Main Street, which is constantly getting financial help from local benefactors. Robin Beal learned about the latest new and unusual fundraising effort on Thursday.
How would you like to have a shot at becoming a millionaire?
Did that get your attention? James Lamey certainly hopes that it did. Lamey is the executive director of the Main Street Authority, and is orchestrating a whole new fundraising campaign around it.
"It’s not a contest. That’s about as much information as I can give you, is that they will win a chance to become a millionaire...which could be $1 million...it could be $20 million," Lamey said.
The organization helps restore those great old buildings in Downtown Ardmore through grants and other projects, and Lamey is hoping to attract new investors with a goal of raising at least $50,000 between now and Saint Patrick's Day. Lamey even unveiled a shiny new leprechaun tote board for the occasion.
Again, St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, is the night of the big investor reception.
