DICKSON, Okla. -- Saturday was a difficult day for many in Carter County as the community mourns the death of a Dickson student. Luke Davis died at a Dallas hospital Tuesday morning, after he collapsed during his team's basketball game Monday night.

Family, friends, teammates, teachers and strangers all came by the hundreds to pay final respects to a young man lost too soon. Luke Davis, only 12 years old, was a seventh grader at Dickson Junior High. People who knew Luke say he was an adventurous young man, with a million-dollar smile, and that he was always a pleasure to be around.

Saturday, a sea of blue Comets jersey’s could be seen outside the Crystal Rock Cathedral in Ardmore. Young people who came with their families, to honor their friend, a gifted athlete and a dedicated student.

Through tears and hugs, they remembered Luke as he was: often playful, always caring, and now sorely missed.

If you would like to help out with expenses, a memorial fund has been set up in Luke Davis' name at Citizen's Bank and Trust in Ardmore.
