GRAYSON COUNTY, Tex. -- Grayson County Commissioners’ Court decided Monday to make February “Sanctity of Human Life" Month. Their goal is to bring awareness to issues like abortion and crisis pregnancies. Mystic Matthews explains.
The director and board members of the Pregnancy Care Center says Judge Drue Bynum came to them wanting to set aside a week in February to recognize the sanctity of human life, but Bynum went one step further and declared it for the entire month of February.
Pregnancy Care Center staffers say they pride themselves on providing young mothers information about all of their options when they are facing a crisis pregnancy.
The center's director, Melva Kittrell says, often the women who come to the center believe abortion is their only option, but Kitrell says the center prides itself on education and letting them know while that is one option, there are others as well.
They say Judge Bynum's declaration of February Human Life Month will raise even more awareness about a woman's choices.
"Our desire is they chose life. But we want to make sure they have the info to make informed decisions with out the implications." Pregnancy Care Center of Texoma board member Rob Wilson said.
Last year, pregnancy center staff says reached 90 young women who thought abortion was the only answer, and the center hopes to reach even more woman in the future.
