WILSON, Okla. -- The old Wilson High School gymnasium went up in flames Tuesday night.

The fire department received the call around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities on the scene say the historic building suffered substantial damage, and firefighters spent part of the night salvaging old pictures and other items stored inside the old structure.

At least four departments responded, including Wilson, Healdton, Lone Grove and Dillard.

No other buildings were damaged, and no word on the cause of that fire.

Well it may not be much to others that never went to school here but Jim is right. So many activities took place there, besides those of us that played our very first basketball games there. The Senior murals have been through 2 fires and saved. Wish we could build a new gym and special activity building there. We desperately need an auditorium for school christmas plays and our carnivals, and maybe use for our fall festivities weekend. It is so sad to drive by and see it today.
