SHERMAN, Tex.-- Students at Perrin Elementary School in Sherman are getting ‘heart healthy.’ Kids participated in a day-long course challenge to strengthen their cardiovascular system on Friday. This is the tenth year for the challenge.

Every year, coach Leslie McGee brings in the equipment, sets it up, and gives the children a chance to learn all about staying active and healthy.

"The reason the grant was written was so they could learn about the heart, and we do this as a preview for ‘Jump Rope for Heart’," Coach McGee says.

The event is in conjunction with National Heart Month, which lasts the entire month of February.
