MARSHALL COUNTY, Okla. -- The woman accused of a killing a Carter County Sheriff’s deputy Kenny Mashore's wife and child in a head on car accident will spend a year in jail.

Amanda Thompson, 22, was sentenced to one year in the Marshall County Jail and five years probation for first degree manslaughter and negligent homicide charges.

Investigators say Thompson was under the influence of an intoxicating substance at the time of the June 18, 2007, crash on Highway 70 that killed Betsy and Kennan Mashore.

I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT THIS KILLER ONLY RECEIVED ONE YEAR FOR KILLING 2 PEOPLE. BUT THEN YOU HAVE TO REALIZE THAT THE OFFICIALS IN THIS COUNTY DO NOT CARE ABOUT PEOPLE. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE THIS ONE GO CHECK OUT WHAT THEY SENTENCED A CHILD MOLESTER IN THIS COUNTY TO. PROBATIONA AND HOUSE ARREST, WHICH HE DOES NOT ABIDE TO. BUT THEN YOU HAVE TO RELIZE THAT THIS IS MARSHALL COUNTY AND THERE ARE NO FEELINGS FOR HUMAN LIVES HERE. I GUESS UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS TO SOME OF THEIR FAMILIES THEN NOTHING WILL BE DONE TO THESE ANIMALS. THE CLILD MOLESTER CASE WAS HELD MONDAY SO WHERE WAS KXII WHEN THIS WAS PLEA BARGINED IN MADILL?

I would like for the local areas to know that Betsy "Bridgeman" Mashore was a very active FFA member, FCA member, class officer, Christian, and faithful friend to all her classmates. Betsy was a delight to be around and always warmed up a room with her bright smile and caring remarks. I became ill when I heard the news that the girl that hit them only received a year for taking the life of a mother and son. I am glad that I no longer reside in a county that does not care about serving justice to those that are doing unwrongful acts.

Our family has been greatfully insulted with the miscarriage of justice that was served by marshall county DA. During this on going investigation Amanda was not issued a traffic violation for no insurance, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, and illegal substances that could not be determined due to her treatment at the wreck. We feel that what happened to Betsy and Kennan did not matter to the DA or other power of attorneys that worked towards Ms. Thompson's plea bargain. Does your family mean more to them than a year? Not hardly this is the first time for Thompson to kill, but chances are it will not be the last. Mr. Mashore and Ms. Thompson has the opportunity to move forward in their lives and start new families, but our family is forever destroyed by the choices that Thompson took on June 18, 2007.

I don't get it. They want to lock up and throw away the key to a woman that burned a delapidated building, but they give this murderer 1 year in county for taking the life of two people. Is it just me, or is there something wrong with this picture?

i am so shocked at the outcome of this case. how can those who chose the sentence for this murderer sleep at night. why hasn't kxii not interviewed betsy's family for their feelings on this matter. why weren't they at the court house. if this had been someone speeding thru kingston that would have made the news. since when di human lives not mean anything to those in the judical system in marshall county? if this had been a grass fire it would have made the news so kxii why don't you interview the bridgemans and see how they fell> maybe even have kennan's grandmother express her feelings about this. i understand she has a letter that she read to amanda thompson that should be put on here also. maybe she would read it on the news i hope that those who slapped her hands are really proud of themselves tonight because none of betsy's family are happy. as a matter of face i don't know of one person happy unless its amanda thompson and her goons (craig ladd and charles milor) may you rott.

I cant imagine how Craig Ladd and Charlie Milor can sleep at night, what ever happened to justice ? I suppose if Mr Ladd had to pick between a case that would be considered a win, over the Value of 2 precious human lives, he chose the win. Nice job Mr. DA May you or your wife and child not have to encounter Miss Thompson on the road in the future. As for Milor, I hope you do meet her on the road... I cant imagine defending such a monster.

This is a nauseating story. And what about her being unable to pass her drug test? If she were taking prescription medication, the doctor treating her would/could have verified that and it would not have been recorded as a fail. Surely when she was asked that in court the lawyers and judge were aware of that. I don't understand what judicial system is doing. I don't understand how they believe this is just punishment. After reading her history in ODCR, I wonder if she has a child or children. I can only imagine the horrors of a life with her. May God have mercy on the Mashores' families and may he execute the most harsh punishment to those who deserve it.

Amanda Thompson should just have a regular seat in the defendant's chair in the court room. Take a loot at her record at odcr.com. Under Love, Carter, and Marshall Counties. She's no stranger to the judicial system, as a matter of fact, just a couple of days before she MURDERED Betsy and Kennan, she received a citation for having NO INSURANCE, however, that didn't stop her from driving, nor did it cause her to purchase insurance. Having said that, not only are these two precious lives gone, but there was not even ONE PENNY recovered for her damanges. SO, tell me where's the justice in that? However, she WILL be sued, and WON'T EVER be able to get another driver's license until she's paid the debt for Betsy and Kennan, which I'm quite sure that will never happen, but I'm also quite sure it won't keep her from driving. Not having any insurance certianly didn't bother her, she still drove and killed two people!

One year for for 1st degree manslaughter, ARE YOU F***ING KIDDING ME????!!! She killed two people. Intoxication substance (cold medicine) always say "Do not drive or operate heavy machinery", "May cause drowsiness", etc. She neglected that warning label and killed two people.
