CARTER COUNTY, Okla. -- The man arrested in December for dumping Brandy Baird's body behind a Healdton oil lease will have to wait until April to find out where his case is headed.

Roy Bassett, 25, appeared in Carter County Court on Tuesday for a preliminary conference to determine which direction attorneys will take the case, but Judge Charles Tate continued the hearing until April 22, which is when Bassett will next appear in court.

The second man arrested in the case, Nathan Langley, was also set to be in court on February 12. His conference hearing was also reset, for March 11.

Langley was arrested in January at his residence in Healdton for drugs and weapon charges. Investigators say Langley had formed a relationship with Baird prior to her death.

OK Look. Dumping a dead body is gross and disturbing and illegal. Doesn't make him a murderer. Even the police have said this guy isn't the killer. I can understand people wanting justice, but until the cause of death is made public, how can anyone be sure it's a murder? The "victim" was a user and could very well have OD'd.

don't hold your breath that this beast will get anything more than a slap on the wrist for killing this lady. just look at what the beast that killed betsy and kennan mashore got. she got one year for killing 2 people. just remember she had the same district attorney as your family will have. if that is the case then the man that killed brandy will more than likely get 6 months. something has to be done to these killers so that they can not get out on our streets and kill again.

Two words: Lethal Injection. Although I believe that is too good for these scumbags. Turn 'em over to an angry OK mob!

Several weeks later, Carter County investigators say only two arrests have been made. One of the two men arrested, Roy Gene Bassett, admitted to authorities that he dumped Baird's body, but authorities are saying he isn't the killer and are still looking for the person responsible and for the motive behind a senseless crime. **************************** The above is from this news site. Here is another quote: "authorities are saying he isn't the killer".

I hope he gets more than Bobby Cutt Jr. Got today. There has to be justice somewhere. And I wonder if they questioned him for the body they found in Marietta.

Being a relative of Cylst McGuffin(Brandy's Mom, The family has been through alot. This individual or individuals have had to have a connection with Brandy's murder. Why else would Bassett dump her body? It seems that there is more than meets the eye here. Hopefully the authorities will find out the truth. God Bless Brandy's Family. Justice will be served.

Baird was a friend of mine before all this mess. I hope that Carter County will come through and punish this scum accordingly. We've said our peace on her behalf and buried her accordingly now, and we miss her. This is the guy who dumped her body and left it to perish in a field. It's up to the Law and powers that be to make sure we don't have to see an Eye for an Eye.
