THACKERVILLE, Okla. -- Reports of a city council's decision to reprimand its police chief last week sparked controversy in the city of Thackerville. Now the chief is telling her side of the story.
Chief Julie Buckaloo was reprimanded last week for the personal use of a police vehicle. City officials originally said Buckaloo was written up for the same issue twice in the last two months, but Buckaloo says the first reprimand actually happened last September, and last week's issue was over medical a trip to Oklahoma City.
"I was reprimanded for was whenever I made a trip back from Marietta to Thackerville to pick up some things I needed to transport the child to Oklahoma City to get the care he needed," Chief Buckaloo says.
"It was a personal issue that she needs to contact the other council members and see their opinions as well," Thackerville city council member Chris Mauldin says.
City officials say Buckaloo could be fired if another reprimand is handed down.
