SHERMAN, TX - Traffic in Downtown Sherman had to be re-routed for part of the evening after an accident on the square.

The crash happened around 9:00pm near Travis and Houston streets.

Sherman Police say the driver of a white Grand Am headed north on Travis, ran a red light and was broadsided by a red Suburban.

The white car came to rest between a light pole and a building.

No major damage was done, no one was hurt and no citations were given.

It sounds about right. My daughter got hit by a guy that ran a stop sign and the Sherman officer blamed her for the wreck. When we went to his supervisor he couldn't believe what happened. Of course, since their insurance had the original police report we had to fight the insurance company. I guess if Sherman had to start paying to fix some of these cars when they don't issue tickets they might start doing their job.

But had they not turned on their blinker they could have been arrested....

Just because this person ran a red light doesn't mean they didn't get a ticket for it, you don't know the whole story so stop making things up you have no idea what you are talking about

Maybe they were studying their Spanish at the time and did not have time to write a ticket

GC, looks like you don't get a citation for running a redlight, ONLY if you cause an accident when doing so. (Sigh)

No citation for running a red light...yet the cops just love to sit at the bottom of the hill on Lamar Street and wait for you to come down the hill going 40 and write you a ticket on a street that has no business being 30 mph in the first place. This sounds about right for Sherman PD. I got broadsided on Houston Street by a lady who ran the stop sign at Highland...she didn't get a ticket either. Go figure. What's up with Sherman PD?

That is soooo not right. We had a huge battle with a trucker's insurance company because the officer who responded felt sorry for him and didn't give him a ticket for shoving us into one of those highway barriers.... Someone needs to investigate the police policies and put up red light cameras!!

Reading this story states that the Grand Am ran a red light and NO citations were given! Who was sleeping on the job? Running a red light is against the law and souldn't a ticket be given?
