ARDMORE, Okla. -- Flags across Oklahoma will fly at half-staff Tuesday in honor of a fallen Ardmore soldier.

Specialist Micheal "Pokey" Phillips,19, was on his way to Baghdad on February 24th when a roadside bomb exploded near his humvee, killing him.

As a tribute to Phillips, Governor Brad Henry has ordered all American and Oklahoma flags on state property to fly at half-staff from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Services for Phillips are set for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 4th, at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bill is angry because he is a Democrat and a Obama support who wants to cut and run before the job is done in Iraq.

Its really sad that you are such an angry person Bill. I agree with Anonymous from Hopkinsville, we should honor these heros of our country. My comment was not meant to be disrepectful to this soldier in any way at all. I simply was referring to the headline because I had not seen one before where they flew the flags at half staff. My bad! I actually do have a brain Bill and obviouly you dont or you would spend so much time making judgement on people you know nothing about. I thank each and every soldier who has the heart to stand and fight for our country. I am proud of them and very proud to be an American. Bill I wish you the best in life and I do hope you learn to deal with your anger and your problem with placing judgement on people you do not know. I honor our soldiers everyday by flying my American flag in front of my house everyday not just on the Fourth of July. May God be with each and every soldier fighting for our country. God bless you all.

I agree with the soldier from hopkinsville ky I am also a soldier with the 101st airborne. And will be leaving soon for 1 year. If you are going to go at each other, do it on the phone not on this site. And Bill have you ever served your country? Just because she may not keep up with news from Oklahoma does not mean she is a zero. I know alot of people who would love to serve there country but can not. I am not saying you have issues but this is not the place to take it out on someone. We need to respect his family and keep in mind that they lost their loved one. Because despite what others may think, he did NOT die in vain.

The only people with issues are the people from Whitesboro.I dare you to go back and read Kenda's remarks and say I have issues, her remark is insensitive and foolhardy and uneducated she is plain and simply anonymous and that says it all.Like yours. You werent born with a name or a brain?"Why should this one soldier" and go from there.I stand by everything I said. With my name. Mr. Phillips is a hero and ya'll are zero's .I hope his family doesnt see her remark, or your's anon 2.

To kenda i did not mean any disrespect to you (if you were talking about me) and this is not for you eather this is for everyone by bashing each other on this site we are not showing honer to SPC Phillips. He died serving his country in one of the best units in the world i should know i have been in this unit for 3 years so lets put these messages for his family, and not cut each other. I have served for 11 years all over the world, and if we had more SOLDIERS like him we would be better off. I thank him for his service to this great nation, and we all know the best soldiers in the world come from this country. Me and my wife are both in the the US Army at FT Campbell, KY to everyone back in OK and TX who read this thank you for your support, it means more than any award the army could ever put on my uniform.

I think the comment posted by Kenda was totally misunderstood. I really dont think there was any disrespect meant it seems to be kind of a question/comment. Geeze people, eaze up. As for the comment from Bill of Southmayd, come on man, dangerous and a threat to the country. You have issues, big issues dude.

For your information I am not under 18, uninformed and I do listen to the news as well I read the news online and this was just the first time I ever saw headline stating they were going to fly the flags at half staff. That was all I stated. I assure you I am not a threat to this country and that really sounds like you are child. That is a very childish and uninformed remark. As I stated, I totally understand honoring the fallen soldiers and my father fought for this country in the Air Force so dont pass judgement when you are obviously uninformed. No offense was meant by my comment.

Kenda it sounds like you are uninformed,18 or under and never listen to the news, which makes you dangerous and a threat to this country.Thank God all towns fly the flag at half mast when their community looses a hero and that is what this man is.While you and your friends are sitting home doing nothing for this country the very best are dying for you and I.
