SHERMAN, Tex. -- Drivers in Sherman will see those orange construction barrels on FM 1417 and Highway 82 west of Sherman starting Thursday.
The Texas Department of Transportation says contractors should be on-site putting up signs and barrels on Thursday, and they will soon start construction on a new turn lane to the on ramp.
TX-DOT engineer Kevin Harris says once they start, northbound traffic on FM 1417 will be affected, but it will be a short 40 to 45 day project, depending on the weather. Harris says traffic will be “minorly affected.”
The total cost of the new lane will be about $250,000.
