SHERMAN, Tex. -- Drivers in Sherman will see those orange construction barrels on FM 1417 and Highway 82 west of Sherman starting Thursday.

The Texas Department of Transportation says contractors should be on-site putting up signs and barrels on Thursday, and they will soon start construction on a new turn lane to the on ramp.

TX-DOT engineer Kevin Harris says once they start, northbound traffic on FM 1417 will be affected, but it will be a short 40 to 45 day project, depending on the weather. Harris says traffic will be “minorly affected.”

The total cost of the new lane will be about $250,000.

Is it north bound 1417 to east bound hwy.82, north bound 1417 to west bound hwy. 82? Or are you talking about the construction to 1417 to Pottsboro and the new construction west of Sherman on 82 and the new 289?
