Emergency response time doubled in snowy weather

SHERMAN, TX - The Sherman emergency responders who drove the burned man to Parkland Hospital at noon didn't get back until 8:00 pm Thursday night because of the slick roads.

Sherman Chief Jeff Jones says response times doubled because of the sloppy roads. He says it's important to be ready for any emergency situation, but it takes fire crews just as long to navigate the roads as it would anyone else.

"We've called in additional people, and have additional engine staff. So hopefully we can make up for delayed response time with plenty of people on scene."

Jones says they are also ready for morning rush hour if the roads freeze overnight.
