DURANT, Okla. -- Officials with the Oklahoma Department of transportation have announced a start date for construction of the Highway 70 Bypass in Durant.
The new road will cut from west of the city, swing south just north of Choctaw Road, and then meet up with Highway 70 at downtown.
Officials say they will start clearing some of the land already acquired in June. Originally, construction was to start in July but officials say clearing some of the utilities will take some time.
