City of Sherman helps clean up waste

Garages often end up being like storage units for many of us, but Saturday, City of Sherman crews were helping residents make room for their car once again.

City officials hosted an event designed to dispose of hazardous waste. Anyone living in Sherman was welcome to stop by and drive through the drop off station.

Volunteers were on hand to dispose of electronics, appliances, batteries, pesticides and other similar items.

"We do it because, what else are they gonna do with it? And we know that they want to properly dispose of things and you know, not cause any fires at the landfill. So, we give them opportunities to be a good steward for the environment and properly dispose of things," said Jessica Perkins.

The city holds these events twice a year. If you missed out, your next chance will be in the fall.

It would be nice if the KXII let you know about this ahead of the day! Past tense doesn't seem to help as much.
