ADA, OK -- After two Ada High School students went before their local board of education and pointed the finger at one of their teachers, accusing her of providing alcohol and prescription drugs to students, the teacher accused of those allegations is firing back.

Daniel Luhman was one of two students who went before the Ada Board of Education in February and said he was being harassed by Ada High School English teacher Kathy Lowry. Luhman also said she provided alcohol to minors and handed out valium on at least one occasion.

KXII-TV learned over the weekend that Kathy Lowry has now filed a civil lawsuit alleging slander and libel.

Teacher Kathy Lowry is suing student Daniel Luhman and his mother, Rachel Vick. Also named in the court papers are Sharon Dean, who is also a school employee, and someone else named Christy Dean.

It is unclear exactly how those people fit into all of this, or why Jane Cooper-- the other student who spoke out at the school board meeting -- is not mentioned.

As far as the school's investigation, those results have not been made public at this time. We did contact Mrs. Lowry's attorney Monday afternoon, but she had no comment.

Daniel Luhman and his mother said they do plan to fight this suit. They deny any wrongdoing.
