I am a close friend of the family with the little boy. I noticed a post. The boy thankfully has not lost his life and as of last evening is still fighting and doing somewhat better. He has a long road of recovery but there are many people that love and care for him that will give him the positive energy he needs to pull through. Thank you all for your comments and I do hope the others involved are ok as well.

Not sure how this happened, but the speed limit is 55 MPH thru Calera, and for a good reason- lots of intersections. Folks on 69/75 need to keep the speed down from south of Calera to north of the Choctaw complex, and drivers in town need to be aware & alert when trying to enter or exit 69/75. I hate speed traps, but in this case the lower limit is necessary. So is a presence of Calera or OHP law enforcement.

My thoughts and prayers go out to both of the families involved. My god be with you all and help with a speedy recovery. To the stepfather, your stepson will be in my prayers everyday until he recovers fully, as I feel he will.

I think that people should slow down in construction zones the speed slows down from the red river bridge to past the lights at choctaw rd. I pray for those who have been in wrecks.

Does anyone know how did it happened? Was it because of the construction backing up traffic? I drive through that everyday coming home and I almost get rear-ended everytime. I hope everyone involved is okay.

Seems to me like there's an awful lot of accidents along that stretch of road.
