DURANT, OK – Durant police say a thief stole about $10,000 worth of copper wire.

About 300 feet of wire was taken from the AT&T-owned lines. Police say the pipe covering the wire was cut with a hacksaw and hammer.

Authorities believe the thief will probably sell the copper somewhere out of town.

Currently there are no suspects.

Well, this is why the rest of us have rules and laws to live by. We now need a law saying that the recycling comapnies must see your picture ID, keep it on file, etc when you recyle to make sure you aren't the moron(s) who are stealing copper wire.
