Utilities to be shut off at Durant apartment complex

DURANT, Okla. -- Residents at Crescent Creek Apartments in Durant say they are being forced from their homes this Wednesday.

As of March 26, water, gas, and sewer services will be shut off to the all-bills-paid apartment complex.

The owner claims this is because Housing and Urban Development (HUD) pulled their Section Eight housing assistance back in January.

According to a letter management distributed to residents on Monday, the owner says without that money, he cannot afford to continue paying the utility bills so all residents must move out.

Residents say they haven't been given enough notice.

The manager personally called my daughter after the fight and told her she would have them out quickly. She went against her better judgement and let them in. And yes, this is just an element of the complex that does not to be in another complex. It does not apply to all that have lived there by any means. I am just frustrated about the situation.

Mom in Durant, hopefully your daughter and the original residents will stick together and pull through or report to the owner of the complex. However it proves my point, INDIVIUAL PEOPLE are responsible for THEIR OWN ACTIONS. Don't judge me or anyone else just because of where I live or may have lived. That guy is obviously a scumbag and he doesn't need to be in ANY APARTMENT, HE NEEDS TO BE IN PRISION. To Me, "desease" is DISEASE, DUH!!!

Several of the residents have moved into my daughter's apartment complex. A week ago, there was a gang fight in the complex by these same new residents. This week a man with 7 children was beating his wife. When a long time resident called 911, the man went after her. So I can tell you where these people are going. It is not good.

The owner of the property wasnt paying his bills since december. section 8 was sending their money as promised. If anyone is to blame it is the apt owner and manager. had they gotten off their buts and gotten these apts up to code and get them to pass inspection HUD would have paid the rent for these people. Grow up people stop trashing the people who live there and put the blame where it goes. As for the ones who are still there after being handed certificates and being told go find better housing...WHY ARE YOU STILL THERE. to be given a chance to better your family and then chose to stay in those apts shows ignorance. So fill your tubs with water, wait for the churches to pay your debts, but what happens next month? and the month after?? GET OUT NOW! FIND A NICER PLACE TO LIVE. DUHHHH!!!!!!

YOU KNOW I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE CALL THIS A DUMP BUT THERE ARE PEOPLE THERE THAT WORK AND THEY DO WHAT THEY CAN TO MAKE ENDS MEET AND TO WHOM EVER SAID PUT THEM ON THE STREETS TO KILL EACH OTHER WE DONT NEED THAT EITHER I THINK THIS IS AWFUL THE WASNT GOING TO RENEW THE CONTRACT THEN THEY WAS AND NOW THERE NOT AGAIN THATS PITIFUL YOU KNOW THESE PEOPLE CAN GET THERE RENT MONEY BACK WHY BECAUSE OF THE CONDITION THEY ARE HAVING TO LIVE IN YOU KNOW THEY COULD LET THE PEOPLE GET OUT AND CUT OFF THE STUFF ONE BY ONE INSTEAD OF ALL OF IT AT ONCE. GIVE SOME OF THESE PEOPLE A CHANCE TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. OR SUE HUD FOR TAKING YOUR MONEY AND CUTTING YOUR WATER OFF

Me, I'm not offended at all about what is being said or what has happened. I was just simply stating that not all the residents living there, now or from before hand, are trailer trash. Your one of the very few lucky people I know of that didn't have ANY TROUBLE OR HARDSHIP WHILE IN SCHOOL. However, for the rest of us and half of America, the recession didn't JUST BEGIN HERE RECENTLY. I'm not sticking up for anyone, I'm just tired of people labeling everyone who is or has ever lived there.

Not all of the residents of Garbage Villa are druggie deadbeats. Many of them are disabled, or very low income, since most of the jobs in Durant area are low paying jobs. The REAL issues are...what are the rent paying residents supposed to do? Why has the place been allowed to be in business? The owner should refund any deposits and rent already paid to the ones who've been paying rent, so that they can relocate, and just bull-doze the whole place! The City of Durant should have shut this hell hole down...years ago!
