CHOCTAW COUNTY, Okla. -- A former Sawyer, Oklahoma, police chief has been sentenced for sexually assaulting a driver.

A federal judge sentenced Coke Douglas Makerney, 48, to eight years in prison Wednesday morning.

Makerney pleaded guilty to the charges last November.

Investigators say Makerney had sex with a female driver when he pulled her over in a traffic stop.

Makerney will have three years supervised release after he serves his time in prison.
