FANNIN COUNTY, Tex. -- Residents of Ivanhoe will soon hold elections to decide whether or not to become an incorporated city.
There are currently 13 incorporated towns within Fannin County, and after months of planning residents have decided they want to become the 14th incorporated town.
Incorporation means the city will be able to generate revenue for itself, such as implementing a sales tax, but it also means residents will have to take care of their utilities instead of having the county handle it.
The election is scheduled for May 10 at the First Baptist Church in Ivanhoe.
