SHERMAN, Tex. -- Texas Department of Transportation workers have been busy in Sherman at the Highway 56/FM 1417 intersection over the past few days.

Almost overnight it seems like the new on and off ramps at the intersection of Highway 56 and FM 1417 have taken shape, and so far it's been smooth sailing, but officials say more changes in traffic flow are on the way. Within the next 4 to 5 weeks, there will be a detour and a four-way stop.

"All the traffic for north bound 1417, they're going to stop at the new ramp coming to the 56, and at the intersection there's going to be a four-way stop." Ali Esmaili-Doki of TX-DOT says.

TX-DOT officials say they expect the project to be finished by the end of the year.
