BRYAN COUNTY, Okla. -- A Lake Texoma campground will soon be open to the public. Officials cut the ribbon at the Lakeside Campgrounds Tuesday afternoon.
Officials at the campground say it's almost ready for campers. There is still some electrical work to be done, but all the above ground work is finished, thanks in large part to volunteers.
"The volunteer efforts have been tremendous. Most of all, the work that's been done inside of the park in that area has been done by volunteers, and they've done several thousand hours worth of work,” says Cindy Buchanan with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
Army Corps officials say they hope the entire campground opens by May 1.
