PURCELL, Okla. (AP) - The man convicted of the brutal killing of a 10-year-old Purcell girl showed no emotion as he is formally sentenced to death by injection.

Kevin Ray Underwood is to die for the murder of Jamie Rose Bolin in what prosecutors say was a bizarre cannibalistic fantasy.

The jury that convicted Underwood recommended the death penalty and McClain County District Court Judge Candace Blalock Thursday formally handed down the sentence.

During his trial prosecutors played a videotape in which Underwood told investigators he beat the girl with a cutting board, suffocated her, sexually assaulted her and tried to cut off her head.

Her body was found stuffed in a plastic container in a closet in Underwood's apartment in the same complex where the girl lived with her father.

I hope they put him in normal population at whatever prison they send him to. Those guys will have thier way with him. Criminals may make bad choices but they sure do not put up with child molestors and child murderers. May that sorry piece of #$$% rot in the hot blazes of hell!!!!!!

When convicted, they should have 30 days to appeal then the sentence should take place. Look at Iran, they should follow the lead, they got rid of Saddam within 30 days. Lets just hope he doesn't hang around for 10-15 years with appeals. He needs to be DRT - Dead Right There!!!!

Why are people so concerned about the rights of scum like this? He should have no rights. He waived them when he heinously murdered that baby. Maybe, just maybe, if people like him were not "put to sleep", it might make a few people stop and think. In order for the death penalty to be effective, it has to be used. And it can't be pretty or all dolled up.
