DURANT, OK -- Durant police Chief Gary Rudick is moving north. Rudick is going to be the first chief of police for the newly formed Tulsa Public Schools Police Department.

The Tulsa Board of Education approved his contract on Monday.

Rudick served with the Tulsa Police Department for more than 20 years before becoming police chief in Durant in 2005.

Rudick plans to start work in Tulsa on May 5.

Durant City Manager Jim Dunegan says he's sorry to lose Rudick, but he wishes him the best in his new endeavors.

Why can't ya'll keep your policemen? Something's always going on... is it your water source? You know, like Pottsboro's? Something in the water keeps them loopy. Aww, ya'll know it...don't be complainin' at me. You can jaw all day long, but it's true.

Maybe we can get some of these illegals out that he was letting stay here. I hope the next Chief will get these unwanted IMMAGRANTS out of our town and stop HARBORING them. Get some new detectives too the ones we have are racist and dumb. RUTHERFORD.

What is the real story on the stepdown to rent a cop? Was it because of the race issues?Taxes are up to 10%, can't we increase his pay to beat the Tulsa high school out. What a loss.
