Why do you assume anyone took offense? I don't know too many black people that ever lived in Africa. But I know a few that are actually from Africa and live in the USA. In my opinion an African American would be someone from Africa with an accent. And as I stated, not all people that live in Africa are black. So why disrespect the people from Africa with descriptions of robbers and thieves as African American.

OMG! Do you people take offense to everything? Last week in a news story the suspect was described as a black male and somebody else did not like that. Maybe we should just assume that if a crime occurs that the person was black or African American unless otherwise noted.

I am a black person and from the description, I will be on the lookout for someone with an African accent living in America. Were they South African? Egyptian? Nigerian? Angolan? Ethiopian? Ugandan? Sudanese? Libyans? Moroccans? If they were short, could they be African Pygmies living in America? There is a difference you know and they are not all black.
